My husband came home and said, “I’m in love with another woman, but I still love you, so I’ll just live in both houses” — I thought he was joking until he began packing, so I taught him a lesson he never expected from me.

“You came now,” I said.

Her eyes filled.

“My former husband used my name for debts.

When Callum offered me money, I told myself this was different.”

She pushed the envelope toward Graham.

“Use it.”

For the first time since Monday, my knees gave way.

Elena caught my arm before I reached the floor.

“He took from Kieran,” I said.

“Not just me.

Our little boy.”

Elena knelt beside me.

“Then we get it back.”

Graham’s assistant appeared in the doorway.

“Tessa, there’s someone here asking for you.”

Vivian stepped into the office, clutching a leather folder.Vivian placed the folder on Graham’s desk but kept one hand over it.

“Callum asked me to witness a signature,” she said.

“He told me Tessa had already signed and

was upstairs putting Kieran to bed.”
