My husband came home and said, “I’m in love with another woman, but I still love you, so I’ll just live in both houses” — I thought he was joking until he began packing, so I taught him a lesson he never expected from me.

“Did you see me sign?” I asked.

“No.”

“Yet you wrote that you did.”

Her chin trembled.

“He said it was a formality.”

Graham opened the folder.

Inside were copies of the loan guarantee, a witness declaration, and an email from Callum.

“Read the last paragraph aloud,” he said.

Vivian adjusted her glasses.

“‘If Tessa asks, tell her the papers concern my business insurance.

She worries unnecessarily.’”

I gripped the chair.

“You called me emotional in court.”

“I believed my son.”

“You chose to believe him after seeing that email.”

Vivian looked down.

“Yes.”

That single word hurt more than an excuse.

“Why are you here now?” Elena asked.

“Because Callum came to my house last night.

He wanted the original email deleted and asked me to say Tessa signed in front of me.”
