The Shawshank Redemption The Complete Story of Hope, Friendship and Freedom

Tommy tells Andy and Red about another prisoner he once met in a different prison.

According to Tommy, that man claimed that he had committed the murders for which Andy was convicted.

Andy realizes that Tommy’s story could potentially prove his innocence.

For the first time in many years, Andy believes that he may actually have a chance to leave Shawshank legally.

He approaches Warden Norton and asks for help.

But Norton is terrified of losing Andy.

Andy knows too much about the warden’s illegal financial activities.

Instead of helping Andy, Norton takes steps to protect himself.

Tommy is eventually killed, making it impossible for Andy to use his testimony.

Andy is devastated.

He realizes that the people in power may never allow him to leave.

Andy’s Final Plan

After Tommy’s death, Andy becomes unusually quiet.

He tells Red that if he ever gets out of prison, there is a place in Mexico where he dreams of living.
