I stared at him.
“You sold those too?”
He nodded.
The more he explained, the more I realized how carefully he’d planned everything.
He had researched wheelchair specifications, contacted a medical equipment supplier, and found a discounted model that he believed would suit Maya’s needs.
He had also spoken with a knowledgeable adult about the purchase.
I was overwhelmed by his determination.
Still, I needed him to understand something.
“Julian, helping someone is wonderful. But you shouldn’t make major financial decisions or meet buyers without involving your parents.”
“I know, Mom.”
“Next time, we’ll figure it out together.”
He looked relieved.
“Are you angry?”
“I’m concerned that you kept it secret,” I admitted. “But I also think you have an incredibly generous heart.”
I hugged him again.
And for a moment, I thought the matter was settled.
Then Julian reached into his pocket.
“There’s something else.”
