My Husband Tried to Take Control of My Condo. Then I Found the Secret Emails

“Emily Bennett?”

“Yes.”

“Michael’s wife.”

“The owner of the property.”

“Yes. Of course.”

“I’m looking at your preliminary equity review.”

“All right.”

“I have a question about the note stating that I intended to add Michael to the title.”

“I was under the impression that was part of your household’s plan.”

“Who gave you that impression?”

“I’d need to check my notes.”

“Please do.”

Michael stood across from me, staring at the floor.

Finally Daniel said, “I have an intake note from an initial phone conversation.”

“With Michael?”

“No.”

I already knew the answer.

“With whom?”

“A Linda Carter.”

Michael’s mother used her maiden name professionally.

“What did she tell you?”

“She explained that her son and daughter-in-law were restructuring ownership ahead of a family investment.”

“I did not authorize that.”

“I understand.”

“I never spoke with your office.”

“Yes.”

“Did she send you anything?”
