So we followed his advice.
Daniel called out of work, and we went to my house.
Mark wasn’t home.
At the kitchen table, we began preserving evidence.
I backed up the hotel photos and video somewhere Mark couldn’t access. Daniel saved copies too.
Then we examined our finances.
I didn’t empty any accounts. I downloaded statements for our bank accounts, credit cards, retirement funds, and mortgage.
Daniel gathered records from the accounts he shared with Jenna.
They’d been married only three months, but had already combined expenses and started saving for a house.
Next, we reviewed phone activity.
Jenna’s number appeared far more frequently than I’d expected.
The calls stretched back months.
Daniel leaned over my shoulder.
“Go back.”
I scrolled further.
There were calls before the wedding.
One lasted twenty-seven minutes, six days before Daniel married her. Another came two days before, and another early the morning after their rehearsal dinner.
