Betrayal Comes From the Closest to You

One sunny Tuesday morning, Clara woke up feeling remarkably radiant. She slipped into a soft cream dress that hugged her growing bump and walked downstairs into the bright foyer. Mark was already up, dressed in a crisp white shirt, waiting for her by the front door. He pulled her close, resting one hand tenderly over her stomach while pressing a warm, lingering kiss against her forehead. For a second, Clara leaned into his warmth, feeling entirely safe and deeply loved.
At that exact moment, the front door clicked open. Elena walked in unannounced, holding a woven basket filled with fresh croissants and breakfast treats. She took two steps into the foyer, looked up, and froze. The smile completely drained from her face. Her eyes widened in utter disbelief, and the pastry basket slipped slightly in her grasp as she slapped a hand over her mouth, gasping for air.
