When I got home, Elias looked completely worn out.
“Do you have any idea what those two put me through? The baby wouldn’t nap, and our oldest spilled juice everywhere!”
“They’re your children, Elias. Not unexpected guests.”
“Don’t act like you’re doing me some enormous favor.”
I noticed the pile of dirty dishes behind him but kept quiet.
Later, as I showered, I heard drawers being opened in our bedroom.
When I returned downstairs, Elias looked triumphant.
“Found it!”
He proudly waved a flash drive.
“Your bathrobe pocket! Seriously? You really thought you could outsmart me?”
I widened my eyes.
“You searched my clothes?”
“Sure did. And guess what? Our little agreement is over.”
“What about the other conditions?”
He laughed.
“I already wasted enough money on your spa day. Game over.”
Then he pointed toward the kitchen.
“Now get back to your place in the kitchen.”
