Large snakes can be impressive animals, and their behavior often attracts attention online. Photographs of people beside enormous reptiles can make an unusual living arrangement appear peaceful and harmless.
But a photograph cannot reveal everything happening outside the frame.
It cannot show whether an animal is stressed, whether appropriate safety measures are in place, or whether the person handling it understands its needs.
Experts generally advise against allowing large constrictor snakes to share a bed with people. A large snake can cause serious injury, and an owner may be unable to respond safely if the animal moves unexpectedly during sleep.
Responsible reptile care means providing a suitable, secure enclosure, understanding the animal’s behavior, and following appropriate handling precautions.
A trusting relationship with an animal should never replace basic safety.
