Daniel signed every document.
Without reading them.
Now Vivian blocked the entrance to a home she believed was hers.
I smiled.
“Actually,” I said, “you should probably start packing.”
Her expression hardened.
Daniel stepped closer. “What did you say?”
I raised my phone.
“I sold this house yesterday.”
Silence followed.
Then I added, “And Daniel, your emergency board meeting started ten minutes ago.”
For the first time that afternoon, his smug smile vanished.
His phone vibrated in his pocket. Once. Twice. Again.
Vivian looked at him. “Answer it.”
Daniel remained frozen.
I knew why. Three board directors had received my audit packet. By sunset, the Mercer name could no longer shield him from what those documents revealed…..
Daniel finally picked up on the fourth ring.
“What?” he snapped.
I watched his face lose color.
“No. Don’t vote on anything until I get there.”
He hurried past Vivian, but she caught his sleeve. “What’s happening?”
