Pablo’s escape initiated the largest manhunt in modern history. He was pursued by a coalition of forces:

Centra Spike: Secretive American intelligence units monitoring radio signals across Colombia.
Los Pepes (People Persecuted by Pablo Escobar): A ruthless vigilante group composed of rival cartel members (the Cali Cartel), paramilitary forces, and former allies betrayed by Pablo. Los Pepes waged a war of vengeance, executing Pablo’s lawyers, burning his properties, and slaughtering his operatives.
Stripped of his empire, his fortune, and his key lieutenants—including his mastermind cousin Gustavo Gaviria, who was killed by police in 1990—Pablo became a hunted ghost. He spent his final months hiding in safehouses across Medellín, moving every few days, sleeping in cold rooms with cash stuffed into the walls for insulation.
