My sister kissed my husband in front of thirty people at her own anniversary party and called it a joke. Her husband had a wrapped present in his hands and an envelope she had never opened.

She thought she was being given the album. That is what I have never been able to shake. When he walked across that garden with it, my sister’s face changed — not to guilt. To pleasure. She thought she was getting her present in front of everybody.

The album is still in that wardrobe.
