My Husband Tried to Take Control of My Condo. Then I Found the Secret Emails

I exchanged a glance with Michael.

“Why?”

“The responses were signed ‘Michael,’ but several messages came from different devices and locations.”

“How do you know that?”

“We preserve header information for client communications.”

“Can you send me the headers?”

“I can send them to the account holder or with written permission.”

Michael leaned toward the phone.

“This is Michael Bennett. You have my permission.”

Then he said he would forward the records. Before ending the call, I asked one more question.

“Did anyone ever claim to be me?”

“No.”

“Did anyone submit my signature?”

“No.”

“No formal loan application was opened,” Daniel added. “What we did was preliminary analysis based on information we were given. We would never have proceeded with financing against the property without verifying ownership and obtaining required signatures.”

“Thank you.”

When I ended the call, Michael looked almost relieved.

“It never got that far.”

“No.”

“But someone was planning as if my agreement was eventually guaranteed.”
