It was realizing that someone else could destroy an object I loved without destroying everything it represented.
The mirror isn’t the same.
Neither am I.
And for the first time, I’m not afraid of that.
So here’s the question I keep thinking about: When someone deliberately destroys something precious to hurt you, is true victory making them pay for what they’ve done—or reaching the point where they no longer have the power to hurt you?
For me, it took both.
But only one of those victories helped me look into the mirror again and finally recognize the woman standing there.
