I Married My 72-Year-Old Wealthy Boss for a Home Five Years Later, His Lawyer Revealed the Truth

But a year later, I sat beside Tom and held his hand as his breathing became weaker.

He looked at me one final time.

Then he was gone.

After the funeral, I sat in our living room surrounded by unpaid bills.

Emily played on the floor, too young to understand that her father wasn’t coming home.

I looked at my old work uniform.

Without Tom, I couldn’t afford daycare, rent, and the hospital bills that had buried us in debt.

I needed another job.

That’s when I found an advertisement for a housekeeping position at the estate of a wealthy older man named Richard.

I had seen his mansion once before.

It was enormous.

I couldn’t understand why a man like that needed a housekeeper.

Still, I didn’t have the luxury of being picky.

I called.

A few days later, I arrived at his estate with Emily.

Richard was waiting in his study.

He wore an expensive tailored suit and looked like a man who had never worried about money.

“You’re Nora,” he said with a warm smile. “And who is this young lady?”

“Emily. My daughter. I couldn’t afford daycare.”

“I’ll take care of that,” he replied. “If you accept the job.”

I stared at him.

A widow with a child and mountains of debt wasn’t exactly in a position to negotiate.

The job was surprisingly simple.

Light cleaning.

Errands.

Supervising contractors.

Helping with the estate.

And Richard arranged for a nanny so Emily could stay nearby.

I waited for the catch.

People rarely gave me anything without expecting something

in return.

But Richard never demanded anything.

Every morning, he’d ask,

“How are you today, Nora? Do you need anything?”

“I’m fine,” I’d always answer.

He never believed me.

And strangely, he never pushed.

What surprised me most was how much Richard loved Emily.

He spent hours playing with her.

I would walk into a room and find a wealthy 72-year-old man crawling across the carpet while my daughter rode on his back, pretending he was a horse.
