I Married a Woman Everyone Hated, But Her Secret Destroyed Everything I Believed EditoronOctober 3, 2026Leave a Comment on I Married a Woman Everyone Hated, But Her Secret Destroyed Everything I Believed The ceremony itself was perfect. When Eleanor walked toward me, I forgot everything else. The whispers. The judgment. The doubts. All I saw was the woman who had changed my life. After the vows, after the music, after everyone finally left us alone, I thought the hardest part was over. I was wrong. Because the truth had been waiting for that moment. Our wedding night. The night my entire life changed. The bedroom was enormous. Bigger than my entire apartment. A fireplace burned softly. The curtains moved slightly from the night breeze. Eleanor closed the door behind us. Then she stood there silently. I noticed her hands were shaking. “Are you okay?” I asked. She nodded. But she wasn’t convincing. She walked toward a table and placed two things on it. A thick envelope. And a set of keys. “What is this?” She looked at me. “Your wedding gift.” I opened the envelope slightly. My eyes widened. Inside were documents and a bank statement. One million dollars. And the keys appeared to belong to a new truck. I immediately closed the envelope. “No.” Eleanor looked surprised. “No?” “I don’t want this.” “Travis…” “I married you because I love you.” Her expression changed. A sadness crossed her face. “You think I don’t know that?” “I don’t want anyone saying I married you for money.” She sat down slowly. “That is exactly why I’m giving this to you.” “I don’t understand.” “You will.” The room suddenly felt colder. Eleanor looked toward the window. Then back at me. “Travis, there is something you need to know.” My heart started beating faster. “What?” She reached up and slowly removed the shawl covering her shoulders. I watched her carefully. Then I saw it. A small mark on her left shoulder. A dark round mole. With an uneven edge. The room disappeared around me. Because I had seen that mark before. Thousands of times. On someone else. Someone who had held my hand when I was sick. Someone who sang to me when thunderstorms scared me. Someone whose voice I still remembered after all these years. ← Previous Page Next Page →
