At the age of 24, I married a man who was fifty years older than me. Everyone around me thought that I had married him only for the money. I myself was convinced that after his death, all his property would go to me. However, a year later, my husband died, and when his lawyer called me, I immediately ran to the notary. But there I heard something that almost made my legs bend under me…
I was 24 years old when I got married.
My husband was 74 years old.
We were fifty years apart, and of course, the people around us were constantly talking about our marriage.
Some said openly:
“She married him only for the money.
Some felt sorry for my husband.
And others were just waiting for me to be his sole heir.
I tried not to worry about the words of others.
My husband wasa very wealthy man.
He had a large house, several apartments, a plot of land outside the city, and enough money in his accounts.
He has never hidden the fact that he has considerable wealth.
One day, however, he told me:
“Money does not make a man happy. The most important thing is to be able to do something useful while you still can.
At that time, I didn’t pay much attention to his words.
We lived together for only a year.
And then one morning I woke up and realized that he was gone.
My husband died in his sleep.
His death came as a complete surprise to me.
I was devastated, but somewhere deep inside me, thoughts about the future began to appear.
Now all his property was to go to me.
At least that’s what I thought.
A few days after the funeral, I received a callfrom his lawyer.
“We have to meet at the notary’s,” he said.
I immediately understood that it was about relegation.
All the way I thought about the house, the apartments, and the money that I thought now belonged to me.
When I walked into the notary’s office, my husband’s lawyer was already there.
